The zeal that burned in Jesus can burn in us, if we yield to His indwelling Spirit. To experience this we must cultivate a heart that continually says ‘yes’ to Him and ‘no’ to anything contrary to Him. As we do this, we will discover a passion for God’s purposes to be fulfilled in our lives, and that we also have a passion to give God pleasure. As disciples, we should want the Lord to be pleased with us. So many people live for themselves and deeply grieve the Lord. How wonderful it is when He finds His disciples intentionally living for His pleasure and not their own. We can then experience the pleasure of God filling us with “inexpressible joy that is filled with the Glory of the Lord” (1 Peter 1:18).
